Owl homes have pledged their support and donated £500 to the community park, local to their development in Upton Snodsbury.
The Upton Snodsbury park was created over 13 years ago after a group of parents decided to make a play area for their children and a space for everyone in the community to enjoy. The group of parents formed the Upton Snodsbury Parish Recreation Association (USPRA) and found an ideal home for the Park on the edge of the village.
The Park, which is now home to a children's play area, a 5-a-side football field, shelter and track for pedestrians and cyclists, picnic benches, and multi-surface for basketball and football, is now in need of a new fence to replace the original one surrounding the Park. The USPRA has actioned a crowdfunding page via the Calor rural community fund to help support their fundraising efforts.
The Calor rural community fund offers communities the platform to raise awareness of their initiatives and gives them the chance to raise money and be in with the chance of receiving a £5000 grant from the Calor funding pot to help support their community projects.
Bianca Cullis, Head of Sales and Marketing at Owl Homes, Says, "We were thrilled to support this community project when approached by the USPRA. It is apparent that the Park is a special place for the community and will hopefully be a space for new and existing residents to enjoy for many years to come".
Joanna Gardner, Chair of USPRA, Says, "We are extremely grateful for the support from Owl Homes towards our fundraising project. It is great to see them supporting our local community. All additional support from people "liking and voting" for our project (which doesn't cost you anything, although if you give us £1 it boosts your vote) will be strongly appreciated."
The Park has become locally renowned for village events, particularly the 'Snodsfest' music festival, circus and mediaeval days. These events help raise much-needed funds to keep the Park maintained whilst also creating community spirit and fabulous village memories. The local brownies have also just finished creating a bug hotel from pallet wood also donated by Owl Homes, which has taken pride of place in the Park for all to enjoy.
