The feature celebrates women working across the housebuilding and construction industry, highlighting their experiences, career journeys and the important contribution they make to the sector.
For Abi, the recognition marks a proud moment in a career that has grown and developed with Owl Homes over the past six years.
Abi first joined Owl Homes as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor and has since progressed through multiple roles within the business, becoming an Assistant Quantity Surveyor before qualifying as a Quantity Surveyor.
Her journey is a fantastic example of what progression within the construction industry can look like, showing how talent, commitment and the right support can help individuals build meaningful and rewarding careers.
Through every stage of her development, Abi has brought dedication, professionalism and a positive approach to her work, making her an integral part of the Owl Homes team.
Speaking to Housebuilder Media, Abi explained what first drew her to the quantity surveying side of the industry:
“I chose the QS side because I liked the site/office balance, and how the role covers a development’s whole lifecycle from beginning to completion.”
It is this variety and involvement across every stage of a project that continues to make the role so rewarding.
One of Abi’s career highlights has been managing her first site, a milestone she describes as both rewarding and a valuable learning experience.
Reflecting on that moment, she said:
“[It] taught me the importance of building relationships with subcontractors and stakeholders. No two projects are the same and that variety is what makes my role so rewarding. I’m fortunate to work with a really talented team; people who I can learn from yet have fun with.”
Her comments reflect not only the technical nature of the role, but also the importance of communication, collaboration and strong working relationships across every development.
At Owl Homes, we’re proud to support career progression across the business and to celebrate the achievements of colleagues helping to shape the future of the industry.
Abi’s feature in Housebuilder Media is a well-deserved recognition of her hard work, growth and contribution to Owl Homes, and we’re delighted to see her story shared as part of a wider celebration of women in construction.
Congratulations, Abi.
